First Baptist Opelika is a church rich in history. At over 100 years old, it is more than a landmark to Opelika’s down town. Expansion was overdue in all areas of the facility. After extensive master planning, Godwin Jones set out to provide and respond to all circulation, entry greeting and worship areas yet maintaining the facility’s original neoclassic design. Perhaps the most complex church renovation in the state, First Baptist Church has maximized its seating, created new conference facilities, state of the art youth center/worship facility and added 20% more adult classrooms and office space.
